The Annual Maritime Disc Dog Cup

A four day disc dog event on the East Coast

The Maritime Disc Dog Cup started in 2011 shortly after Andre & Elisabeth brought the sport of Disc Dog to the Maritimes. They recognized that the sport was growing and we would benefit from an annual event that everyone could work towards and look forward to. And many do. There have been many changes to the Cup as you look through the "Previous Events" page.

There have been a few venue changes - everyone disliked the strong winds that came up on the Timbit field. Then the double booking of 2014 at the Airport Field. The hurricane of '22.

Andre & Elisabeth had life changes when their jobs moved them away from us and their young, growing family kept them busy as well. So, yes, we did miss one year of the Cup (2016) but Steven and Melanie Smith have assumed hosting responsibilities since 2017, with the permission of Andre & Elisabeth, to keep the sport and Cup alive and celebrated in the Maritimes.

The awards have changed and evolved over the years. We changed the Champion awards to accommodate our new (to us) sanctioning organization - UpDog Challenge. Our Sky Memorial was switched to the Sandy Scott Memorial (in 2019) by request of Jeff & Wanda Ash and the Rookie of the Year award is now in memory of Hank.

But one thing has stayed the same - our disc family and friends. There are many in our disc family who have not played in a while due to work, family, or their dogs cannot play competitively anymore. There are many new competitors stepping out onto the field, which we love to see. Those people will become part of our wonderful disc family too.
